Epiphany actually asks very little of us except what winter asks: To sustain ourselves, to wait well, to look for the light in these dark days, to open ourselves o the possibility that God is here.
It's so good to see you back here - yay! Your words are always full of gentleness and grace - something that's increasingly hard to find. This is what I needed. Thank you! 💜
It was so good. Those breath prayers were life-giving. Thank you! Also, I needed the encouragement that you will not win the workout contest!
In Bangkok, it gets chilly in December and January (mornings are in the low 70s, going up to the mid-90s midday), but the humidity decreases, and it feels fresh!
John and I are in Southern Thailand right now and it is beautiful. I wish you and your sweet family were here to recover from winter. Our Hesychia Prayer Center is waiting for you all free of charge!
Thank you for your words. I really appreciate the reminder that January is the worst time to make resolutions! Just getting through is enough.
As a fellow Christian who came from the new age I do want to share a warning about ‘breath prayers’ though. Praying in this way may seem nurturing and relaxing but it is dangerous - I speak from experience. I’m happy to share more if you’d be open to hearing. God bless you.
Hi Kate, I always appreciate hearing the stories of other people of faith, and believe you that your experience with breath prayers wasn't healthy for your spiritual life. I do, though, believe that using our bodies in prayer is good work, something that Christians have been doing since the start of the Church. Breath prayers were first written about by our spiritual ancestors in the 3rd century, so they aren't new to the Christian tradition. I actually believe that western church has done damage to our souls by asking us to separating our bodies from the practice of prayer. Breath prayers have been part of my practice for the past fifteen years and have played an important role in keeping me connected to the presence of God at a time when other forms of prayer felt difficult or lifeless. Thanks for your care and concern. And thanks for reading.

Thank you, Jen! Love seeing you here as well.

Thank you so much, Kimberly! I would absolutely LOVE to take you up on that. Enjoy those fresh mornings...
So glad you are back! I needed these words.
Happy to hear from you, Jody!
So good! I love it all!!! It is a dark sad month. But God….
But God...
This is rich, Micah! I am abundantly thankful for the grace you are.
Thank you so much, Clark!
Beautiful prayers. Thank you :)
Looking for the light with you. Lovely breath prayers, thank you for sharing in these (rightfully) anxious times.
