I really appreciate your perspective on how we use alcohol and many other distractions:
“We’ve replaced celebration with escape.”
We escape and lose the deeper meaning that celebration and ritual can bring. I know I’m always seeking more celebration and ritual in my life. Our culture lacks daily spiritual practices that can come with ease. I am trying to incorporate more into my life and show my children how.
I love this: “What if we all began to move to our tables, our families, our communities with a vision for attending to the stories.” Yes! I’m thinking about the upcoming holidays, and gathering people at my table. And pouring good wine, serving delicious food, but also attending to their stories.
I can’t wait to read Adams new book. Thanks for sharing about it and how this has and continues to play out in you and Chris’ everyday life in community, with God and others.
I will be sitting with this thoughtful, needed post for a long while. Thank you for pointing me toward celebration.

Thanks so much, Jodi. I'm glad that you connected. I think you'll really love his book.
