This is so good. And timely as the holidays and the dark days of winter bring grief to the surface so many, even while it is a month of party party party.

"A practice of authentic gratitude will flow most wholeheartedly from the strength and beauty that finds its foundation in our grief."

So good. Thank you.

Thank you, Micha, for your insight about gratitude growing out of pain.

It is easy to be thankful for all the gifts God and others give us. It is

another thing to sustain pain and suffering while still being grateful.

Thank you for this Micha. I've been working on an essay for a while now about how gratitude can be used against folks--like spiritual bypassing or a refusal of grief. The framing that recognizes gratitude emerging from grief or suffering, or even commingling with it, is very powerful. It also reminds me of Ross Gay's book INCITING JOY, which makes similar claims about joy and community. I need to keep learning from these tender reminders.
